These lamps are fabricated using sliced and
polished Brazilian agates and geodes. Their
translucence allows for brilliant color and shape
variations enhancing a mesmerizing and soothing
effect for any surrounding. Each lamp has its own
unique characteristic charm.
They are meticulously constructed using lead
solder, drop by drop. A mix of patinas allows for an
aged appearance which blends well with the bases
that have been acquired through the years.
The larger lamps require 50-70 hours to achieve
the result; of an artful creation in appearance with
lights on or off.
These piano encore art pieces have been upcycles into a new life, as their working life has expired. They were part of Fort Collins' Pueanots about town program. Although many of the pianos are over 100 years oldand have ivory keys, none of those keys have been used in these pieces, since a 2016 law was passed, there is a near total ban on commercial trade of ivory. It is a means of lessening its value, thus reducing poaching of these beautiful animals.
